Where’s The Meat No Beef Patties
After creating my No Beef Crumbles recipe that is vegan, soy-free, nut-free, dairy-free, gluten-free and egg-free, I loved it so much that I decided to use that recipe as inspiration to create new ones that call for a traditional ground meat.
This recipe is the BOMB when it comes to ground “meat” patties. It taste great. It holds it’s shape well. It has a good chew and bite to it and is the closest thing I have tasted to replicated ground meat. Does it taste like beef? NO, it’s not beef so it doesn’t taste like beef. But, if you are looking for a meatless burger this fits the bill for BB Q’s, quick lunches or dinners.
In a large bowl combine the quick oats, bread crumbs, dry seasonings, regular dairy or vegan parmesan cheese, ground flax seed, and almond flour.
Add the ketchup and water OR beef broth. Mix well to combine.
Using well greased hands, shape the mixture into patties. An icecream scoop makes this easy to get them all the same size. You can make these as small or as big as you like. The size and thickness will determine how many patties you end up with. They don’t spread as they bake so be sure to flatten them with your hands. Place the patties on a non-stick pan sprayed with a little cooking spray.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Remove from oven to cool.
In a medium skillet, bring 2 cups of water or beef broth to a rolling boil. Drop the patties into the boiling liquid. Reduce heat to medium and simmer for 5 minutes.
After five minutes, remove the patties from the liquid and returm them to the baking sheet. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. If you are making these ahead for the freezer you can freeze them now. Be sure the baking sheet is UNLINED or that you use parchment paper when freezing these.
These patties can be serve immediately as soon as they come out of the boiling liquid or you can light brown them in a dry skillet over medium heat.
